IRS offers Identity protection for CO and NM
The Internal Revenue Service is expanding it’s Identity Protection PIN program in 2020. Taxpayers that filed a 2018 tax return from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas locally are available to utilize this program.
The IRS issues a 6 digit PIN to identify you when e-filing your return. Taxpayers go to IRS.gov/IPPIN to enroll. If this interests you to have an added layer of security in filing your tax returns, I recommend that you do it in January to allow enough time to receive the PIN in the mail so that you can provide it to your tax preparer. If you have applied and have not received the IPPIN yet please let your tax preparer know that you have filed for one to avoid filing issues.
